VA Benefits Help Guide was created by a U.S. Navy veteran who spent years frustrated by the VA's confusing websites, dense paperwork, and hard-to-find information. After struggling firsthand through the claims process — deciphering acronyms, trying to understand disability ratings, and figuring out what benefits were even available — it became clear that veterans deserved better tools.
This site exists to translate confusing VA processes into plain English. Not more bureaucratic jargon — real step-by-step guidance, calculators that make sense, and resources built by someone who has been through it.

How to file a claim
Veterans can file claims for free through VA.gov or with an accredited Veterans Service Organization (VSO) such as DAV, VFW, or The American Legion. We strongly recommend working with a VSO before paying anyone to help with your claim.
